EYE is a cinema/film museum that opened its doors in 2012. The striking building is located on the other side of the IJ-river, in Amsterdam Noord. The museum is designed to explain the concept of film being an illusion of light, space and movement. EYE wants you to get involved with different levels of film: film as an art form, entertainment, cultural heritage and as a communication tool. The museum offers four cinemas and an impressive exhibition space of over 1200 square meters. Besides that, the EYE Film Institute might have one of Amsterdams nicest terrace overlooking the river, Amsterdam’s Central Station and parts of the historic urban city center. Enjoy great food, stunning exhibitions with attention to the finer aspects of cinema, using various forms of media: the reasons to go to EYE are endless, come see for yourself!
At the backside of Central Station is where the free ferries leave to Amsterdam Noord every 10-15 minutes.
