The Rijksmuseum is one of Holland’s most popular museums which tells the story of 800 years of Dutch history, from the year 1200 up to the present. After a 10 year renovation, the Rijks reopened in 2013, completely revamped and optimized to inspire a new generation through its collection of 8,000 historical objects.
Although the Rijks can be a whole lot of input to handle (the walking distance is over 1.5km) it should definitely be on your list of things to do in Amsterdam. And, it might come as no surprise that the Rijksmuseum attracts over 1 million visitors annually. So, if you want to get the most of the museum without spending hours in line, we recommend getting tickets online before you head out.
