De Wasserette serves perfect croissants, coffees and delicious salads and sandwiches making it the ideal breakfast/lunch spot in this area of town most commonly referred to by locals as “De Pijp”. The place is warm and decorated in style with a vibe that’ll remind you of Soho, New York. And next to a great interior, there’s also a pleasant terrace outside which is perfect for sunny days. Ordering happens inside, but it’s definitely worth the few extra steps: the food is awesome, the staff is outstanding.
Back in the days, an actual laundromat (“Wasserette” in Dutch) used to run inside this joint which got a complete overhaul when its young owners decided to turn it into a quality breakfast/lunch spot right on the corner of the charming “Gerard Douw” square. It’s located directly next to the famous “Albert Cuyp” street market (open daily except for Sundays) and only a few footsteps away from Sarphatipark, a beautiful park inside the city center.
Try their notorious sandwich with marinated chicken, avocado, truffel mayonnaise, parmesan cheese and pancetta… and don’t even dare skipping their coffee… hallelujah!
