Castle of Good Hope Historical castle

Built in the 17th century, the Castle of Good Hope has survived many challenges throguhout its lifetime and was constantly under threat of being demolished for personal and materialistic gain. The oldest existing colonial building in South Africa now serves as a beacon of hope for the community as its spaces are extensively used for community dialogue, meetings, workshops etc. It has solidified itself as a space of upliftment and empowerment, constantly working to “be a globally significant, truly accessible centre that showcases South Africa’s shared heritage.”
