The Louvre is the worlds largest museum exhibiting almost 35,000 objects over an area of 60,600 square metres. This stunning museum is housed in the Louvre Palace which was originally built as a fortress in the late 12th century. After Louis XIV chose to live in the Palace of Versailles in 1682, the Louvre became the place to display the royal collection.
A trip to the Louvre is something that must absolutely be on your list when visiting Paris. Keep in mind that the museum is absolutely massive and the best tip we can give you is to not try to see everything at once. There can also be a massive queue outside the glass pyramid so we highly recommend buying your ticket(s) in advance online.
